Overview

Yangon is a city in Myanmar, located at the confluence of the Yangon River and Bago River, 30 km from Martaban Bay. This is the largest city as well as the economic and cultural center of Myanmar. Yangon International Airport is 19 km from the city center. Buses are always crowded with passengers. The railroad system covers the northern provinces of Myanmar. The government regularly restricts the import of cars. Motorcycle riding in the city is also illegal.

Yangon has a tropical monsoon climate with a rainy season lasting from May to October. From November to February is the best time to travel to Yangon because the weather is cool and dry at this period.

Yangon does not own the busy commercial center and prominent with the modern entertainment centers. Yangon attracts tourists with the special culture, unique temple architecture, green space of many parks and lakes. The famous attractive tourist destinations in Yangon include the Shwedagon Pagoda - one of the most prominent buildings in Yangon, Sule Temple which is considered a landmark for the city, Myanmar National Museum, Chauk Htat Gyi Temple, Kandawgyi Park, and Thaketa Crocodile Farm.
